Uhmmm... You do know the cup goes on the inside right? Even if it is metallic.
Vanquish is a 3rd person shooter from SEGA for those who do not know. It promises fast paced action and mech-suited super soldiers shooting the living hell out of each other. Does it live up to its promise? Find out.
Gameplay: The demo is set in a middle-story mission, in media-res demo wise, which you have to breach an enemy stronghold, base, or something of that sort. The controls are pretty tight to the character actions, although the button for ducking, A for Xbox and X for playstation, may seem a bit awkward compared to other 3rd person games.
Movement and combat is very similar to a Lost Planet game mixed with some jet shoes. Combat does take some interesting turns with addition of the jet-boots and high speed turns and flips. Melees are powerful and often taking a acrobatic route, like one of a backflip kick.
Story: Story wise, well, it lacks. There is very little in terms of introduction and you are just thrust into the mission. Very simple in terms of in-playing story, here are some bad guys, shoot them while swapping objective. One part has you running and gunning, while another has you defending an open plaza. The mission takes a turn for the worse when a big, transforming baddy shows up.
But likewise with Quantum Theory, just shoot the glowy/marked parts. After big-bad-demo-boss is defeated the demo just ends there, nothing else, nada. You don't even get to see the end of the mission.
But don't let my rantings deter you, it still is a solid demo and you should at least take the download to try it.
Overall: ****- (4-stars)
Sorry for the short revew, See yah's
